This week I have been utilising some of the spare silver and cut out shapes I have around the work shop to experiment making a few different pieces of jewellery. I don’t usually make bangles or rings very often but made a large bangle with a citrine stone silver bud shape and an 18ct Gold leaf as well as a set of 2 bangles with Silver and 18ct Gold leaves.
I also made a set of 3 rings that stack together using the same shape from some earrings I make.

There has been an old fly press in my workshop in the Jewellery Quarter for well over 2 years now and I have finally got it on the table and sorted out the bits that will make it work thanks to Keith at the Jewellery Innovation Centre. All it needs now is a new handle and I can start using it!
I have a new digital camera which means I can now document my work in it’s various stages. The pendants below are now ready to be polished, then some will be oxidised (blackened).
I’ve had a break from blogging and the British weather! These pictures will be great for inspiring some new pieces of jewellery!
I’ve had a fantastic Christmas and New Year Break and I’m now looking forward to 2010 and all it brings. The year has got off to a slow start with all the snow!
All Christmas exhibitions were a great success and a big thank you goes out to the organisers and supporters of ‘Dazzle’, ‘Centrepiece’ and ‘DJG’ exhibitions.
Manchester Dazzle Jewellery selling exhibition started on 23rd November and runs til 2nd January 2010. Open Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm.Sundays 11am to 5pm.

I have been involved with the ‘DJG’ since I met Jeanne Werge-Hartley at New Designers graduate show in 2006 and their wealth of experience and support has been invaluable.
“The Designer Jewellers Group was founded in 1975 as a co-operative which promotes the work of its members.
Individuality of design and professional craftsmanship are its hallmarks, bringing together an exciting diversity of styles in contemporary jewellery. All members are designer makers, working in precious metals, gemstones, carved hardwoods, Perspex, polypropylene and textiles, and using a vast array of techniques. They are often commissioned to make bespoke items or pieces for special projects.
Today its Thirty one members come together for exhibition purposes, and to offer new designers a platform for launching their work in a professional environment.”

This weekend The Harley Gallery art market featured over 30 local artists and 20 local food producers selling their wares, along with the chance to visit the Harley Foundation Artists in their studios.
The Gallery shop has some amazing work in it also and is well worth a look.
