Terry’s All Gold

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

bopper_14

An exhibition to celebrate alumni of the School of Jewellery, Birmingham from 1971 to 2011.

This exhibition has been curated by Terry Hunt from selected alumni as a celebration of his 40 years involvement with learning and teaching at the School.

Exhibitors include designers, artists, makers, gallery owners, academics and retailers from all over the UK, as well as Germany, Italy, Norway, Israel, South Africa, USA, Chile, Thailand and China.

I have 2 pieces of jewellery in this exhibition and it’s well worth a visit, though hurry as it ends soon.

Each of the 100 exhibitors is represented by two items – one student piece and one more contemporary.

The exhibition is a brilliant confirmation of how the institution has helped encourage links between creativity and entrepreneurship over the last 40 years; showing the School’s significant influence not only on the business of craft and product in the West Midlands but also throughout the world.

Open to the public @ the School of Jewellery from 24 October 2011 – 25 November 2011

Weekdays only; 10.00am – 4.00pm

Free admission + Catalogue available www.allgolds.co.uk

We have had a lot of building work done on our workshop and taken the opportunity to give the old office a fresh lick of paint and some fancy wallpaper.

The new space can now be used as a showroom to display our jewellery, a spacious environment to have meetings as well as a clean room to do design work.

Centrepiece selling website

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

The Centrepiece Jewellery website has some jewellery for sale on it already and it looks fab! I know a lot of the members of Centrepiece Jewellery have worked really hard to get it looking this amazing! I think the layout works really well but obviously we are hoping for lots of constructive feedback to make sure all our customers can utilise the site and by all the jewellery they desire.

Open Workshops!

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

A big Thank you to all those who attended and also to Simon who came and filmed the whole event!

We had to make the best of our temporary workshop as it’s not the ideal working or shopping environment! I took a couple of photos of how we displayed our work and as always you can see me with my camera!

Perhaps this is the true definition of shabby chic?!

New Collection

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Here are some pictures of my new collection that I have been working on for quite some time. Many pieces from the collection are now showing at ‘ Kath Libbert Jewellery Gallery’

“Since 1996 this leading contemporary jewellery gallery has been set within Salts Mill, home to the world’s largest collection of work by David Hockney. Open daily, it specialises solely in contemporary jewellery, silver and metal smithing showcasing diverse collections by over seventy renowned designers and emerging talents from Britain and abroad.

Much of the work on show pushes and blurs the boundaries between fine art, jewellery design and fashion resulting in jewellery that is, perhaps, best described as wearable art. Pieces are often created using a surprising range of materials and techniques.

The gallery organises a  number of  major exhibitions each year, some of which have been supported by funding from Arts Council England and the Crafts Council in recognition of the important role they play in showcasing the very best of British and international talent in Yorkshire and the UK.”

Kath Libbert and her gallery has a great reputation so I’m really pleased she has chosen to exhibit my work!

Lab craft: digital adventures in contemporary craft

Imagine objects three-dimensionally printed from a bed of nylon powder; shapes appearing to seamlessly morph and merge with each other; and new forms randomly self-generated by computer software. Lab Craft, a new Crafts Council touring exhibition, presents the imagined as real objects.

Curated by design commentator Max Fraser, the exhibition features 26 of the most experimental names in craft and design, each of them combining traditional craft skills with the use of cutting-edge digital technologies.

Lab Craft is at the Turnpike Gallery, Leigh, until 18 December

Chair upholstered with ‘White Moth All Over’ by Timorous Beasties

Timorous Beasties’ work often incorporates illustrations of triffid-like plants, birds and other animals. To create the White Moth All Over design they have repeatedly built up a scanned image of a white moth to create a busy and detailed pattern.
