Edinburgh Dazzle Exhibition is fast approaching!

“We are thrilled and relieved to have found a new home for our 2011 Edinburgh Festival exhibition. We are returning to our roots, and joining with Assembly in their move to George Square. We will be exhibiting in the foyer of the George Square Theatre, which will be hosting a full programme of Assembly events, from first thing in the morning until very late at night. It will be a real hub of activity with Assembly also in George Square Gardens, the David Hume Tower and other places , yet to be revealed.

We first exhibited at the Assembly Rooms on George Street in 1983 under the Assembly umbrella and had many happy years there  before our move to the Traverse Theatre. It has been very problematic finding a new venue for this year and at one point we feared that we had reached the end of our run in Edinburgh, but thanks to a lot of effort on the part of many supporters and friends, we feel confident that we can put on a good show this year.”

I love the fab Red Flyer, it looks set to be an event not to be missed. For more information visit: www.dazzle-exhibitions.com

New Collection

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Here are some pictures of my new collection that I have been working on for quite some time. Many pieces from the collection are now showing at ‘ Kath Libbert Jewellery Gallery’

“Since 1996 this leading contemporary jewellery gallery has been set within Salts Mill, home to the world’s largest collection of work by David Hockney. Open daily, it specialises solely in contemporary jewellery, silver and metal smithing showcasing diverse collections by over seventy renowned designers and emerging talents from Britain and abroad.

Much of the work on show pushes and blurs the boundaries between fine art, jewellery design and fashion resulting in jewellery that is, perhaps, best described as wearable art. Pieces are often created using a surprising range of materials and techniques.

The gallery organises a  number of  major exhibitions each year, some of which have been supported by funding from Arts Council England and the Crafts Council in recognition of the important role they play in showcasing the very best of British and international talent in Yorkshire and the UK.”

Kath Libbert and her gallery has a great reputation so I’m really pleased she has chosen to exhibit my work!

Back to work

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

I’m back at the workshop making some jewellery for a couple of orders and preparing for The British Craft Trade fair. I am making the new pieces in my collection that will available for shops and galleries to order. I’m really excited about offering  the new pieces to order as they have proved popular throughout the year.

Amy Duggan Jewellery

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

This is the jewellery of a fellow jeweller Amy Duggan who I shared a studio space with in Birmingham. Amy’s work is so different and amazing!

Folds Ring
Silver, paint, lacquer

“I take a playful approach to design, allowing me to discover unique and original ideas through experimentation with space and colour. The techniques I use include folding, etching, rolling and painting precious metals. Urban landscape was the inspiration behind my current collection along with the influence of abstract art and action painting. ”

A Bloomin’ success

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

‘Best of Brum’ Exhibition @ The RBSA Gallery, Birmingham was a great success and many of my jewellery/silversmithing friends and collegues also exhibited including: ALICE GOW, ANNA LORENZ, CLAIRE PARDOE, ESTHER LORD, JO POND, KATHERINE CAMPBELL LEGG, KATHLEEN BAIRD, KERRY O’CONNOR, LOUISE CHESSHIRE
MELANIE TOMLINSON, MICHELE WHITE, MIRANDA SHARPE, RAJESH GOGNA, RITA PATEL, SHONA MARSH

This piece was my star attraction:

It’s a 4 layer bloom necklace, the petals are silver that has been oxidised/blackened and each layer has an 18ct Yellow Gold petal.

I picked my work up this week and the new exhibition was full of delicious cupcakes! (knitted, cast and ceramic however!) The new exhibition is called:

“The Art of Dining”
“Explore the relationship between food and object. Including jewellery, ceramics and textiles, this exhibition will investigate the social importance of food and dining.  It includes direct representations of food and tableware that is purely decorative. ‘The Art of Dining’ will be a sumptuous exhibition and an intriguing insight into the varied techniques and skills utilised by makers in their creative practices.
